It comes unscented, so it doesn’t interfere with a scented shaving soap or aftershave. Preshave soap comes in a swivel up container, which is easier to use. Use it first before a shaving soap. Just dampen your face with water, then slide the soap across the skin. It is slick, for a comfortable shave.
